Airbrush Highlighting Basics

Highlight on Fleek!!!
seems like everyone now a days wants that highlight on fleek, if you are not sure what that is just log yourself into instagram and follow all the head beauty feeds and you will quickly learn what the highlight on fleek entails, There are so many traditional highlighters out there to choose from you can go powder highlighter, liquid highlighter, cream highlighter and today im going to show you how to go AIRBRUSH highlighter.
Choosing a shade:
you want to find a shade that works with your undertone for example do you look better in golds or silvers? reds or olives? once you identify your undertone finding the shade that will work for you is a piece of cake. Your highlight doesn't have to be done with a shimmer or metallic shade! using a shade like hug me is my personal preference. So if you are looking for a more natural highlight use a FOUNDATION shade that is 1 to 2 shades lighter than your normal foundation shade.

Set that Dial:
some metallic airbrush makeup can be so highly pigmented that it requires a higher pressure to push the color out smoothly, never the less I prefer to apply my highlight with my dial set at 11 o' Clock. this gets the shade out but still allows me more control.

Where to Highlight:
If you do not like the dewy look or the "strobing" look than just apply your highlight to the upper cheekbone, up in a "C" shaped motion through the brow bone, and the tear duct. If you are Highlighting with a foundation shade then I recommend Highlighting the Brow bone, tear duct, bridge of the nose, cupids bow, center of the chin, and the upper cheek bone. now if you want that highlight on fleek like straight up strobing than plant that highlight in all the areas listed above dont forget the upper arch of the brow for extra fleekieness :).

Note: make sure to stay light on the lever like anything else with airbrush makeup you want to lightly pull back on the lever repeatedly only releasing small amounts of product at a time then build to the coverage you want. its easy to add more than it is to take some away!

The Basics of Airbrushing Blush

We all love that Youthful blushed look and if you know a thing or two about makeup than you know that it is super easy to apply blush using traditional makeup, but did you know that it is even easier Airbrush your blush??? Well it is super easy and in the video below you will see just how so. But before we get to that lets talk Blush shades. To apply blush you should areas know that the first step is where you apply it. There is really only two places to apply blush, one is to the apples of your cheeks, and the other is to your cheek bone. Okay now that we know where lets talk about what! as in what shade should I use???
To chose the shade that works best for you follow these steps:
-1st- identify if you have a warm or a cool undertone.

-2nd-  Choose a shade with the same undertone.

-3rd- Don't be afraid to try new colors! you don't know how
a shade will look on you until you actually try it out.

Tip- Customize a shade!
Mix any blush shade with your contour shade, Trust me I've done it with
shades as light as Cloudy Pink from Dinair's glamour line and it works
every time. Make sure your contour shade is the same undertone as your
skin tone otherwise this trick won't work! (MORE DETAILS ON MY BLOG

Airbrushing your Contour Basics

Contouring with airbrush makeup.. Hmm Seems easy enough right?? So what do you need to know in order to contour with airbrush makeup like a pro or at least a seasoned enthusiast ;)

First things First you need an airbrush system Duh!

Second you need a contour shade always start at your foundation shade then work down the shade range line.  use this as a guide One shade Darker for a more natural contour, and Two shades Darker for a more intense bolder contour.

an Example using my foundation shade as a guide:
I use Golden olive mixed with Nutmeg for foundation so for my contour I would
use Nutmeg for a natural contour or Cocoa for a bolder more intense contour.

Then once you have the perfect shade then work on areas you want to fall back on the face                 (contouring is basically creating or accentuating shadows in order to slim or reshape the face. we contour to fall back and we highlight to bring forward) Use the 3 Shape method The three begins on the forehead makes its way down the temples, then comes forward through the underside of the cheek bone, makes its way back towards the ear, and then moves down and through the jaw line. in addition to the 3 method I also like to contour the Nose area just the sides of my noes to give it a slimmer more symmetrical shape, the sides of my chin to slim it down as well, and blend down my neck staring from the base of my jaw line and feathering the color down you don want a harsh line you just want to create the shadowing our goal is a slimmer appearance right ladies and gents!

Where do I set my Dial???
if you are a beginner i recommend setting your pressure at a low speed, lower speeds reduce the risk of spraying to much makeup due to inexperience with lever control. now if you think you got this and your confidence is bursting out of you then by all means go for the medium pressure. Your dial setting is 10- 12 o clock on compressor with a dial, and low to medium pressure on a 3 speed compressor (10 o clock or Low for beginners or a lighter application, and  12 o'clock to medium for a experienced user or a quicker and in some cases more bolder application.

Now when should you contour??
-Well if you want a more natural look i recommend contouring prior to your foundation application. Now if your looking for that contour that Slays straight up cuts ya! then you want to apply your contour after your foundation application.

and that should do it! I hope my little tips will help you on your airbrush journey and when you become a super famous Experienced renowned pro at airbrush makeup don't forget to throw me a shout out if its not too much trouble after all we all have to learn the basics somewhere right not everyone can be self taught ;)
See the video below for how I airbrush my contour and stay tuned for more airbrush how to's and then some ....

The Basics of Preparing for Airbrush Makeup

So airbrush makeup like all other makeup needs a prepared foundation in order to thrive through and in any condition so here is what i do to prep my face for my airbrush makeup application.

Products I use:
Skin Prep Pro
- Skin prep pro is a makeup toner that clears the skin of dirt, oils and debris prior to priming or makeup application. Its best to apply it with a cotton pad i dont recommend applying it with the airbrush.  It is made by Mehron and can be found at these sites for sure ( I'm sure you can find it more places these are just the places i buy from)
http://www.mehron.com/skin-prep-pro/ ,http://www.airbrushmakeup.com/shop/index.php/skin/870-06 , https://camerareadycosmetics.com/products/mehron-skin-prep-pro-formerly-no-sweat-usa-only .

Urban decay primer potion
- this primer potion is a basic lid primer/ base if you have oily lids like me or have a mono lid i recommend using an eye shadow primer such as this prior to you airbrush makeup application after all you did all the work of airbrushing your shadow I'm sure you want it to last through anything!

*You can use a face primer after using the skin prep pro, I do on occasion my primer of choice is Mally Beauty Perfect preppore less Primer ( find it here http://www.mallybeauty.com/perfect-prep-poreless-primer or in your local Ulta beauty store )

Burt's Bees Lip Balm
-Coming in many scents/ flavors burt's is very hydrating and moistens the lips enough without leaving a greasy coating, its perfect for preping the lips prior to airbrushing lip color or applying a lip stain. Remember to remove as much of the product just before you apply the lip color. it can be found at your local Walmart, Target , or Drugstores.

Check out the video below for the process of applying these products in preparation for airbrush makeup application and don't forget to subscribe for more tutorials, tips, product reviews etc. Thank you for stopping by!
